Köln 75 follows the story of the young Vera Brandes as she tries to make a legendary jazz concert by pianist Keith Jarrett happen. It’s a compelling drama about perseverance and the magic that arises when everything seems to go wrong.
With a powerful performance by Mala Emde (303, Meine Tochter Anne Frank) as Vera, director Ido Fluk (The Ticket) transports you to the vibrant Germany of the 1970s. While setbacks follow setbacks — from the wrong piano model to last-minute panic — Vera continues to believe in the power of music. The film shows how obstacles can actually shape art: the historic Köln Concert sounds the way it does thanks to the imperfections of that evening. An ode to the creators behind the scenes and to the unexpected beauty of the imperfect.
